Being the Tech Geek in my group of friends, I always have a arsenal of software should a mishap arise. I always have a copy of Windows Xp SP2 installation CD as well as Hiren’s Boot Cd. This CD is a All-In-One Dos Bootable CD with partition tools, antivirus tools, password tools, and much more. With this CD you can either run it from my computer or boot to it. Booting to the Cd is helpful when you have malicious programs on your computer and you cannot load XP up. By booting to it you can run antivirus tools or even partition a hard drive. For those that are Tech Savvy or not, this CD is always a must have.

This helpful hint is useful when you somehow forget your password for an account. There are two ways to reset the password:One is to use an administrator account and the other is to use command prompt without an administrator account.

If you know that password for the Administrator account it is quite easy to reset a password for an individual user. Click Start then right click My Computer and then go to Manage. Once there expand local user and groups and the right click on the username and click set password. If you wish to choose no password leave it blank.

The second method is useful when you do not have an administrator account. To reset a password in command prompt click start and then Run, in the box type CMD. After you enter it a black box will appear. In the box type “Net UserAccountName *” without quotes.

So on my computer it will look like

” C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>net user Admin *”.

Hit enter and it will ask for the new password and if you don’t want to put in a password, leave it blank.

Hding windows folders is a plus for those who like their privacy Its a simple trick where you create a folder but it remains invisible, literally.

Step 1: Right click desktop and move the mouse to New and then click folder.

Step 2: Click the text on the new folder to change it. While the text is highlighted Hold down the ALT key and press 0160 (zero one six zero). What this does is make the text of the folder invisible.

Step 3: Now we must make the folder invisible. To do so Right Click the folder and go to Properties.

Step 4: Once at Properties go to the customize tab and click change icon.

Step 5: Scroll over through the icons and there should be a spot between icons that’s blank. Click it and click apply.

Now you have an icon that only you know exists.
