Networking a printer might seem difficult, however, by following these instructions it can be done by anyone with little experience in computers. Networking a printer can be useful when you have multiple computers but only one printer. By networking it, you can print at any computer whether there is a printer there or not.

1. Install printer on any computer.

2.Share the Printer on the computer that you installed it on. To share the Printer means to give it a name on the network so other computers can recognize it. To share it you must go to Printer and Faxes under the Start Menu. Find the printer you just installed and right click it and go to Properties. Look for the Sharing Tab on top and check Share This Printer. Once checked choose a name for this printer.

3. While you are on the computer with the Printer: Click Start and then Right Click My Computer and then go to Properties. Once there click on the Computer name Tab on Top and write down the name next to Full Computer Name: NAME HERE

4. Once shared you are ready to go to any computer in the network. To add a printer on the computer, go to Start, printer and faxes then Add Printer. Click Next the check the part where it says A network Printer. Click next then check Connect to This Printer (or to browse for a printer) .

5. Now Under Connect to this computer put: \\The computer name\the printer name —then click next till you are done. Now your printer is networked.
